I was also talking to Markus the other day in Cascais, and I am glad Transbunker is making an effort not to upset Dragon sailors.
We allways hear people say how unfair is their program, but truth is I am very sure that if they didn't have any coach boat at all, they would still win simply because they are fantastic sailors.
I think the reason Dragon class is so sucsessful is beacause we can find a great wide range of sailors and the fact that there are so many Olympic medalist and various classes World Champions, makes other sailors delighted to mesure their skills against the best of the best!
I recall the first race at the Gold Cup in Ostende wouldnt have felt so good to win if some sailors like the Bunker team were not sailing in the fleet.. Well done for that Teddy!!! Or the Baileys with Rachel and Dylan fighting for the Cup till the last moment and winning the Corinthian trophy being 4th overall after a bad last race.
The day Tranbunker decides to quit the Dragons our racing will not be the same as we will not have the chance to beat the best of the best!
So let's try to keep this sailors along instead....

With regard to Coach boats, I do recall once seeing in Sailing Instructions a requirement that coach boats remained out of the sailing area and to leeward of a line Xm to leeward of the start line and /or leeward mark during racing. In that position they are still able to access the boats they service between races and their ability to have any other influence on information of help in the sailing area is much reduced. Perhaps such an instruction could be introduced to Dragon events to avoid any suggestion of Coach boats making more difference than a tow out, tow back and somewhere to store the sails and sandwiches.

Hi Stavros,
The Ukranians are such good sailors, why do they need such "outside assistance"?
It doesn't seem to be in the best long term interests of the class and even though they may not be receiving such assistance while racing is it considered to be in the spirit of fair sailing?
